There are landmark times in our lives that in days of old were marked by a rite of passage from one stage of life into another. Reaching the age of reason, around age 12 to 13 (aka puberty), becoming an adult, becoming a parent, and honored elder or unmarried. We are rediscovering the value in having these ceremonies both for the celebrant and the family and friends. We look with new eyes and interact with the celebrant in a new way. The value of this ancient tradition is being recognized in our modern world and there is a beautiful resurgence of honoring in this special way.
